A beautiful Moment
Many years ago, when I first started meditating, using the level practice the art of focus, being still, finding balance, centeredness, I had my first vision.
I would hold the level in my hand for 20 minutes, breathing in and out, closing my eyes every so often then opening to focus on the bubble. Drifting back and forth. At some point in that process, I had a vision of a lady with brown hair, in an orange tank top, blue jeans, wearing no shoes thumbing a ride. The sun was in her face and the soft breeze was blowing her hair. When I came to after my first vision during meditation, I felt somewhat disoriented. It all very lucid and real. I could feel the sun on me as if I was standing right in front of her. I thought how cool that is. I just had a vision! I never had any visions prior to that while mediating. I sat there for a while. Then got up and did some stuff around the house took a shower and started getting ready to go out for the night. I was meeting up with some friends from Golds Gym and a few seahawks cheerleaders. We were all going to have fun at a piano bar named 88 keys in Seattle.
I got in my truck, and I headed over to my buddy’s house where we were all meeting up at a little early to hang out with him and shoot the shit. It was a beautiful summer day. As I am heading down the road of about 3 blocks, I see a lady about a quarter mile up the road standing across the street from me. As I drive by her, she is standing there with her thumb out going the other direction. There she stood, long brown hair blowing in the breeze, same orange tank top on, blue jeans and no shoes. Same as in my vision during meditation! I pulled over to the side of the road and stopped. I said wow DeJa’Vu! but way different. I Just saw that! I didn’t know what to think. I looked at my clock in the truck, I had an hour and half before I was meeting up with my friends. I thought I am going to give her a ride and see what this is all about. I turned the truck around drove back to where she was standing and stopped and said where you heading lady? She said I need to go my brother’s house. I said hop in, and I will give you a ride there.
She hops in my truck passenger seat, puts on her seatbelt and I start driving. I ask her, where does your brother live? She tells me and I said I know right where that is at. I used to own a house in that development. I will give you a ride right to his house. She says oh, you don’t have to go through all that trouble mister. Just take me as far as you can take me. She looked at me then looked away really quick like. I could tell she had a blackeye forming. Someone smacked her good. I said I will take you right there. Make sure you are safe and get where you need to go. She asked me if she could have one of my smokes. I said I have a couple packs in the truck, you can have the rest of that pack. She pulled one out of the pack and nodded a me to see if it was alright if she could smoke in my truck. I said I am smoking, of course you can. She lit it up and as she blew out the smoke, I could smell alcohol on her. She said thank you. I really need a ride from a good person. You are answer to my prayers. I said you want me to take you to the store and get some shoes? She said no. I have shoes at my brother’s house. I said where are the shoes you should be wearing now. She said Well I got in a fight with my old man and it’s my fault. I had to run out the door really quick like.
I said did he hit you? You want to go to the cops? She said no no no I don’t want to get the cops involved. I said no man should hit you ever. no matter what you did. I highly recommend you don’t go back to him. You do not deserve to ever be hit for any reason by a man. Know your worth woman. She said I broke my promise to him again. I said still, no man should ever lay a hand on a woman out of anger. I will take you straight there. She said thank you. It’s all my fault. I am bad person. I said I done a lot of not so good things in my life and I am not a bad person. Your life isn’t over yet, you can turn it around. She said you don’t want to hear all about my problems mister. I sure do appreciate the smokes and the ride. I said Well, God loves you and God saved me so its least I can do.
She says God doesn’t love me. I said God loves you and isn’t nothing you can do about it. God loves you no matte what lady. He sent me to make sure you get where you need to go safely. He heard you, you said I was the answer to your prayers She nodded her head in silence. She sat in silence until we pulled up Infront of her brother’s house. I asked her, is this it? She said yes sir. This is it. I pulled up and stopped.
She didn’t get out of the truck. We sat there in silence for a few long minutes. She started crying. I said I am right here. You are safe. You are okay. It’s okay to cry. She then starts telling me everything that she has done wrong. Big tears are streaming down her face. She grabs another cigarette and lights it up. I reach back in the back seat of the truck and grab a roll of blue shop paper towels and rip one off and hander her one. I said sorry, that is the best I can do. She laughed a little. She looks at me and I look at her. I said will you do me a favor? She got all scared looking. I laughed and said no no not that kind of favor. I just gave you a ride to make sure you were safe. I said Would you mind if I prayed for you right here, right now? She said after I told you all the horrible shit I did, you still want to pray for me? I said yes mam. I want to pray for you right and right now.
She reached over and grabbed my hand, and I started praying for her. After I got done praying for her, she said I never heard anyone ever pray like that. I said Well it just kind of flows through me the way it flows through me. There was a long pause then She asked, Do you thank God can forgive me? I said awwe Listen to me, God doesn’t judge you honey and neither do I. She smiled and scooted across the seat and gave me a big hug. I just held her for a while. Then she said what is your name again. I said Andy. My name is Andy. She thanks you Andy. You helped me more than you know. I said you bet. I am glad I got to give you a ride.
She says to me, well I best not keep you any longer and get inside my brother’s place. He isn’t home but I know where the stash key is out back. She hopped out of my truck, closed the door and walked over to the driveway, turned and blew me a kiss. I reached up with my hand and grabbed it out of the air. I yelled out the driver’s side window I will put it in my pocket and keep it there. I will save it for a beautiful moment. She laughed and said Perfect! Waved and walked away.
I started up my truck and pulled down the road, then stopped and said wow! My first vision and it became all that. Wow. I called my buddy and said I take care of something, but I am on my way now. He said we are all here waiting for you. We are all going to load up into my navigator and go down together. Quit messing around. Hurry up! I said yes sir. Put my truck in gear and went over to his place. We had a really fun time that night.
Every time I drove down that road, I would look for her to see if she was out there hitching a ride again. I prayed every day for her for 4 months.
4 Months later I was on an internet dating site. I met this girl 4 towns over and we go out dancing and having fun for the night. She asks me over to hang out. I said sure that sound great. We get over to her house and we are sitting on her couch. She smiles, looks at me, and says you sure talk about God a lot. I laughed and said yeah, I am a God Dude. That is a fact. I do love God. That isn’t no lie. She laughs and says Its actually really refreshing. You talked more about God and listened to me more tonight than you said anything about yourself. Not that you didn’t have your moments. She laughs and says that is different than most men I have been on a date with. Most men talk about themselves the whole time during a date. She stands up and asks me if I want something to drink. I tell her I don’t drink alcohol, but I will take some unsweetened Iced tea or a cup coffee if you got it. She said I will put on a pot, and I will be right back, I am going to change into something a little more comfortable these heels and this dress is driving me crazy. I smiled big. Okay sounds good to me. She gets up and says the remote for the tv is there if you want to turn something on, then heads in the kitchen to make a pot of coffee then runs upstairs to change clothes.
She comes back wearing a long tank top and nothing else. Looked like a dress. She goes in the kitchen and poor’s me a cup of coffee, yells out black. I said yes mam, that works for me. She comes back in and hands me the cup of coffee, sits right down close to me and smiles and says, So Mister God Dude. Tell me a story about How God works in your life. I paused for a while. Then I said, you know. I have good story. Then I start telling her about the girl with no shoes that I picked up and gave a ride to her brother’s house. She looks at me with huge eyes on her face. Slowly sets her cup of coffee down on the table. Then stands up and runs out of the room. Then comes back in the room and says don’t leave!
I am sitting on the couch and not sure what to think. A few moments later she comes running back in the living room falls on her knees right in front of me, looks at the floor bawling her eyes out and holds up a picture and says Is this her??? Is this the girl you gave a ride too. I look at the picture and it is her. I said Yes! Totally! That is her! How do you know her??? She said this is my sister!!!!!!! You were the last one to see her alive!
I stood up and said what??????? She said you were the last one to see her alive! You! You are her Angel named Andy! I said what???!!! What happened??? The last time I saw her she is walking around the back of your brother’s house to go in! I sat back down. She scooted over closer on her knees and laid her head in my lap sobbing. I put my hand on her head started moving my hand though her hair softly and said I am so sorry. I am so sorry. I am so sorry for your loss.
Then she sits up wipes the tears from her face. Said I will be right back. I have to show you something else. Please do not leave. I said I am not going anywhere. I will be right here. She heads back upstairs and then comes back a few minutes later and has a paper in her hand. She said My sister was a heroin addict. She wrote this note before she shot up heroin in my brothers’ bathroom. She over dosed and died. My brother found her dead on the bathroom floor with this note in her hand.
She hands me the note. It read, Mick and I got into a big fight tonight about my using drugs again. God sent me an Angel named Andy who gave me a ride. He prayed with me and didn’t judge me. I haven’t that safe and loved in a very long time. I am going to do this last little bit of dope I have and then I am going to rehab. I am going to change my life. I know God loves me now. God answered my prayers today! Then it had her name written on it.
The Girl I was on a date with said everyone at the funeral was wondering who this Angel named Andy is that gave her a ride and prayed for her. I got the note because I wanted to keep it for her kids when they get older so they could have it and make sure it didn’t get lost. She looks at me and says and now you are here. You are her Angel. I cried.
She said Oh don’t cry. don’t cry you are going to make me cry more. I don’t want to cry anymore. I laughed. She climbed up on the couch and sat close to me. I held her hands we sat there, and I told her everything her sister and I talked about, except some really deep personal things her sister told me. I will take those to the grave with me. I told her everything else. She thanked me. Then I laughed and put my hand on her leg said Well shit. I thought I was going to get lucky tonight. She laughed and said Well I never been with an Angel before. So, if you want to head up stairs with me, I am up totally up for it.
I laughed and said noooo nooo obviously I am not here to have that kind of date with you. I am here to talk to you about your sister. She laughed and said Honestly This is the best date I have ever been on in my life. We stood up, hugged. I headed to the door and opened it then I remembered that her sister blew me a kiss. I was wearing the same exact jeans as I was that day. i closed the door, turned and said you know what he last thing your sister did when I saw her? She said what is that. I said she blew me a kiss and I caught it in my hand. I told her I would put it in my pocket and keep there, I will save it for a beautiful moment. Your sister smiled and said perfect. So I reached in my pocket and pulled out my fist. Opened my hand and looked down at it and said, Yep! I still have it. I said I think your sister would want you to have this. Then I put my open hand on her forehead. She smiled so big and started crying. I tipped my hat and said good night sweet woman. Opened the door and walked out to my truck and didnt look back.
I cried the whole way home.
I never heard from her again. I never talked to anyone else in her family. I prayed for her sister many times since then. I am so grateful and honored to be a part of both of their lives. It is a really big deal to be part of that. I actually cried writing this tonight.
Such a beautiful thing.

Wow.
Thank you for sharing that moment Andy. I read it after I woke up during the middle of the night and it left me speechless. What an incredible experience.
It was truly a wonderful experience to be a part of. 🙂
I once knew a wonderful man who told me, “Life is a series of Moments.”
He did not say “beautiful” — but it was implied.
Thank you for sending the energies of YOUR beautiful moment out into the Universe, and into the lives of those who are here reading your words.
🙂
